A chirimía in Colombia refers to both a traditional musical style and the ensemble that plays it, originating from the Pacific Coast (especially Chocó) and parts of the Cauca region, featuring a lively mix of woodwinds (clarinet, saxophone, euphonium), percussion (bombo, cymbals, tambora), and sometimes native instruments, performing energetic rhythms like abozao and jota for festivals and dances.
